Nokia surprised us last night by launching a low-end music phone, the 5300, at a Gnarls Barkley concert they held at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square. This lumpkin, called the 5300 ExpressMusic phone, is a triband slider with a 1.3-megapixel camera, music control buttons next to the screen, FM tuner. The lower-end 5200, has only one music access key and a lower resolution camera.
Both run Series 40 from Symbian. No pricing or carriers yet, but expect them to end up overseas first.

This phone is a nightmare. Not only does the 1GB memory card mysteriously become unformatted but the phone randomly doesn’t ring. The wallpaper also blanks out to white. I tried exchanging this phone and the first day of having the exchange I had all the same problems and returned the exchange. And yes, I did try to reformat the memory card as stated in the manual on both my phone and the exchange, the option isn’t even on the menu.
