Slate Has The Balls To Criticize The Wii
by Vince Veneziani on November 21, 2006

So if you haven’t heard lately, you can get a huge spike in traffic by praising Nintendo’s Wii on your Website. However, if you dare criticize and hate on Nintendo’s “next-gen” console, prepare to alienate all your readers. Erik Sofge over at Slate has written an article called “Nintendon’t” in which he has the courage to point out that the Wii does in fact, have a flawed control system and that first-person shooters are terrible to play on the Wii.

I personally have been saying forever (and by that I mean the past three months) that the Wii is great for the casual gamer who wants cheap thrills for an hour. The graphics are terrible for a lot of games (though some are good, like Madden ’07) and that stupid-ass Wiimote shouldn’t be used for every single game. Glad to see that someone else in this industry actually can be critical of a system and its flaws.

This guy is a joke he played about 10 minutes of the games and thats it I have played through most of call of dudy rayman zelda and red steel, the aiming is pinpoint accurate and after an hour of play you can bust head shots without giving it a second thought. 2nd the wii can get me so immersed in the expirience, that I sometimes for get im playing a game . The game works great for for party games as expected, but suprisingly it makes old school games like call of duty fgar more immersive and intuitive I would be playing right now if my brother would stop watching the damn tv.

Right. So the one person who echos your a priori assumptions of the system is correct, whereas everyone else who is praising those very aspects he’s criticising are, what? Stupid? Liars? Or, more arrogantly, just “casual gamers who want cheap thrills”?

Subbed to CrunchGear today because I need a decent tech feed. After this article, I know this isn’t it. I expect this kind of fanboy bile in the comments, not in the articles.

FYI…Read CrunchGear’s previous posts. They are very unbiased in their reporting. And they haven’t exactly been soft on PS3 or other products like the recently released Zune.

Some of these responses reak of fanboy.
