First Man in Space
by Blake Robinson on December 8, 2006

File this in the not really tech but I don’t care department. Browsing around on Google Video last night, I came across this video of the first man in space. It’s a two minute clip on an Air Force experiment involving on the affects of extremely high altitudes on the human body.

Basically Joe Kittinger was stuck in a balloon that took him up for three hours before he jumped. On his fall he reached speeds of about 615mph and amazingly suffered no damage. Crazy talk.

Also, this is as good a place as any to call attention to the new “300″ movie trailer over on Yahoo! Movies. Check it out, it just became my #1 most anticipated film of 2007 (then “Grind House,” “Smokin’ Aces,” “Black Snake Moan,” etc.).

Holy Crap! 300 is going to be soo good!

That clip reminds me of The Right Stuff (http://imdb.com/title/tt0086197/)

300 looks like it has some CRAZY cinematography… thanks for pointing it out!

Ben - The Right Stuff - CLASSIC! Chuck Yeager is the man! Or at least he was the man.

I have a whole collection of old military training videos. Oh, I miss the analog days sometimes. It made for great propoganda. The anouncers are always so frank. The cartoons in those things are freekin hilarious!

Frank Miller is sick! In a really good way. I bet that whole movie was made on a Blue screen set in Texas. The same one as Sin City. Blake I’m going to have to call you on “Smokin Aces” That looks like a wanna be John Woo + Wachowski Bros.+ Tarantino, over budget, barely a plot, Hollywood piece of crap.

So this guy just jumps ( or falls really). that effn balls dude!

If we can go into space with a balloons, why do we need rockets / shuttle.

Some dude got an honorable mention from Darwin awards for doing the same thing while in a lawn recliner.

Wow. I was hoping to see a new trailer for 300. Good lord that looks beautiful. Frank Miller is one of my favorite writers - and I look forward to the movie coming out. One good thing - is that my husband will like it for the action - while I can enjoy the art aspect of the film.

Hi Blake,

its a bit late ( you posted on DEC 8 ) …. CAN YOU POST - OR E-MAIL - your most anticipated films of 2007 9 besides the 4 you listed )…I like your recommendations - maybe you got more…

Steve
