Just a heads up for those new to CallWave (like me) — your normal voicemail message is replaced by CallWave’s. Instead of hearing your voice, the person will hear, “Hi. The person you are calling is using CallWave. Please leave a message after the tone.” There’s a beep, the person leaves a message and if they hit pound afterward they hear, “Thanks. Your message has been sent. To learn more about CallWave, please visit http://www.callwave.com.” After that the widget pops up with the call details.

This isn’t too hard to live with for a free service that offers the convenience I’ve been looking for, but since your voice is replaced and there is no recited phone number, the person calling won’t know if they are calling the right person.

if you follow the info they gave you, you can set up your own message. Call your own cell on your sell and go through the steps.

I’m a Product Manager at CallWave. You can personalize your outgoing greeting! Just call your cell phone number from your cell phone and press * then 3.

CallWave is incredible! I live in an area where I don’t get great cell phone service — such bad service that sometimes I can’t even get a consistent signal enough to check voice mail. Thanks, singular. Now I can check my messages whenever I want, using the desktop widget (I use a Mac, the installation process took no more than 3 minutes), or email.

I tried to registe for CallWave’s SMS service. I live in South Africa. Although the registration process asks for your countr & country dialing code, the CallWave service does not appear to be available to South African users. Can anyone help here ?
