New Mac Ad: Cancel or Allow?

No matter which side you take, you still know you love the Mac vs. PC commercials. This new one takes a direct hit at Windows Vista and the annoying, suppressive security features that come built in.
There’s also the always-popular tactic of “PCs get viruses, Macs don’t!” being used as well. One of the more creative commercials and a humorous one, too.

Ha, I’ll forever be a PC guy, but that’s still pretty good.

Ha, I’ll never be any company’s pawn, Mac or “PC”… but that’s still pretty accurate. Vista sux.

I love it. One of the better Mac ads in this series.

And by the 100th dialog box, Vista’s users will turn it off completely. Security is a double-edged sword. Vista has gone a bridge too far.

this is actually funny, but the truth is mac doesnt have security problems, because no cares enough to hack into macs.
macs are 10% of the computing world and they will stay that way until
they let people install the software on any hardware they want.
the best hack on mack was making it run on standard x86 PC hardware using the beta darwin engine, no one except hollywood film editors and playboy mag photographers use macs for anything important don’t get me wrong, i have a mac, along with my linux box and my 2 windows boxes; but I never use it for anything right now it’s foot rest.

That isn’t exactly true. *NIX isn’t as easy as Windows to hack.
People points out new exploits very often, as much as every week. However, Apple cares more about us, so they try to fix them as soon as possible, that’s why the security is better on *NIX systems, such as Ubuntu and it sorts, like Kubuntu, and OS X.

In response to ‘Q’, I’m shocked that you would make such statements with “my linux boxes” under your desk for you should know that 60% of the websites in existence run Apache (according to the Feb 2007 netcraft survey) and most of them are some form of Unix/Linux. What better platform for hackers to target than the one that 60% of the web runs on. If I wanted to make the most damage the quickest and most visible, Linux/Unix on webservers would be the way to go.
The “no one cares enough to hack (mac,Unix,Linux,Solaris,etc..) because they are “only 10% of the computing world” is a horribly mis-informed statement. The reason Unix and Unix like OSes are not near as susceptible to attack as Microsoft (not “PC”) OSes is because of the security model and how user accounts run - not because they are less used.

After seeing the commercial I ran directly to my PC for a double dose. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard at a commercial that wasn’t aired during the superbowl. Although I am a PC guy, always have been and always will be, I have to admit, Mac does a damn good job at attacking PC in these new wave of commercials they’ve been airing recently.
I feel like a computer nerd/geek (which I’m far from) after running to the computer to see some tech commercial that I just saw on tv, but that’s just how great this commercial is.
Well done Mac, Well done. Bravo.
PC OS’s are still better though! :D

So i was just watching american idol and not really paying attention, then some weird commercial came on but it kinda got my attention. after i realized what it was about i was cracking up. i have two pc’s both but i love mac commercials. I think that macs are great for people who just use their pc for regular things like office and web browsing, i doubt i could use a mac just because of the feature and programs i need are not available but it is by far a good product with great commercials.

About the only reason to run a PC (Microsoft OS) is for the games. If all the games were supported by Linux/Mac, I would use one of those.

I agree with the guy who said vista has gone a bridge too far. After all, the BEST security in the world is called TDTO… turn the damn thing off!
