Blu-Ray And HD-DVD Get “Processed”

Those silly users over at Doom9! What will they think of next? Apparently processing keys were on the mind of user Arnezami. He’s posted a method for acquiring the processing key from a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player, meaning piracy is about to skyrocket in the HD sector. This isn’t what happened a few weeks ago when Muslix64 broke the volume key encryption, this is completely new. Basically, in six months, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray piracy will be switched into full gear.

If you’re feeling a bit adventurous and want to learn more, check out this thread on the Doom9 forums. Packed full of juicy illegal stuff information!

Sascha (Who am I?)

Seriously, though, even though I wouldn’t vouch for it I am pretty sure that extracting information from your drive or a disc is not illegal per se. Doom9 has been around for a long (no wait: looooooooooooooooong) time, and in all that time I believe (but again, don’t take my word for it) they have never even received as much as a cease and desist letter. They don’t offer illegal tools, they don’t offer anything to encourage illegal actions. They just show the methods, but what you use them for is your responsibilty.

It’s like selling a knife, whether you used it to cut potatoes or stab someone is not the knife vendor’s responsibility. Lovely analogy :-)

WOOOWOOOO

I love them all, they make it easy for me to copy rented dvds! (I’m still paying money so im not stealing)

Eventually I’ll be copying HD/Blu-Ray disks and burning them to my blank HD dvd-r and watching them on my pirated hd-tv…wait? damn, i gotta buy that one :( oh well, atleast i’ll have the movies.

AWHOOO!
