For those of us who fly frequently, we know that going through the security checkpoints over and over is a pain in the ass and a huge hassle for geeks due to our abundance of electronics on hand. Well if you’ve got $100 a year to shell out and are ready to pay a $28 one-time fee, try Flyclear for a change. This clear, credit-cardesque device allows you to speed through airport security without having to go through all the normal hassles.
If you’re interested and want to obtain one, you should know a few things first. You can register online and you’ll need two valid forms of ID like a birth certificate or driver’s license. After that, you go to a local enrollment center where you get the passport treatment. You know, photos, fingerprints, the whole nine yards. After that, you’re good to go and flying will be much easier for you. This is pretty much a business traveler’s dream.

Well right now there are only 5 airports that offer Clear Lanes, so the terrorists don’t have much to choose from yet, and 5 more airports are announced to be available soon. However, if the system takes off soon any bigger airport will have it, and I have to agree that unfortunately making things easier for the good guys also always means making it easier for the bad guys.

Does anyone really think that today’s security hassle at airports is actually preventing a terrorist attack? If so, wake up. The bad guys have moved on to exploit other weaknesses of which there are many. This is all about the feelgood factor for the masses.
Also, if you think terrorists would apply for this card so they can walk up to planes armed to the gills you must be smoking something……

I can just imagine the lawsuits that will follow the first cub reporter who breaks the security. Are Clear a private company?
Frankly, I stopped flying to the USA once the country where I had created a number of jobs and improved a number of others decided to treat me like a criminal and fingerprint me.
