Sony-Ericsson Patent Unveils PSP Phone Design

Face it. It was only a matter of time before Sony took a look at its mobile phone division and went “Hmm…maybe we should do a little PSP-integration…” Sure enough, this recent patent filing shows just that. Could a new Sony-Ericsson phone be coming out that plays like a PSP? Quite possibly.
If you take a look at the patent, you’ll see the screen flips so that when not in use for games, the phone is still completely functional. Flip the screen, and you have a button layout extremely similar to that of the PSP. This thing even looks like it could handle mobile TV, which would be quite possible on AT&T’s 3G network. Not much information is known about this phone currently, but expect more in the coming months.

Is it just me, or do the screens look weird?
Especially the one that has “Yes(1)” and “Yes(3)” as options, and the one that says “you’d like to resume game?”

THE DRAWING IS UGLY AND SCARY FOR A PHONE BUT I KNOW IT’S NOT FINAL AND SONY WILL MAKE IT BETTER, THE PRICE WILL BE NASTY AND WHEN IT COMES TO REALITY THIS PHONE WILL CREATE ALOT OF FUSS ALL AROUND BUT I’LL TRY IT BECAUSE I GOT AN ERICKSON W810i ALREADY AND PLAN TO UPGRADE SO BRING IT ON, I’LL TEST THE SUCKER!
IF THE PSP PHONE HAS ALL THE FEATURES MINE HAS NOW THAT WILL BE KILLER. I REMEMBER WHEN THE “WII” CHANGED NAME FROM “REVOLUTION” A LOT OF IDIOTS WERE CRYING ABOUT HOW UGLY AND STUPID THE NAME “WII” BUT NOW THEY HAVE, WANT, OR DREAM OF A WII.
SO YEA THE PSP PHONE WILL BE SOMETHING TO WAIT FOR AND ALSO THE UMB BETTER BE SOMETHING BETTER AND THE GAME PLAY ALSO.

it should be for t-mobile since psp uses wireless internet and could use t-mobiles hotspots, in addition to when they get 3g later this year

This is a patent, not a design. A patent basically shows how a design would work. Patents are usually extremely rough, sometimes even looking like a four-year-old kid drew them up. The purpose of a patent is almost like a copyright.
